BHC Housing is a community organisation in Brighton and Hove, owned by its local membership. We seek to switch local housing with its extortionate rents, over to being genuinely affordable long-term homes, for local residents and workers on low incomes. Rents will be linked to income and will be affordable for workers on minimum wage.
We keep costs and overheads low. We have no expensive offices nor high pay for directors. Every worker is paid the same hourly wage. We'll stay efficient, directing funds to flipping more houses for the local community.
In the first 2 years, we seek to raise a minimum of £2 million, crowdfunding donations and interest-free loans. We will purchase and retrofit existing housing, meeting decent housing standards and embedding environmental sustainability.
Benefiting existing and future generations, properties will be held permanently, protecting against a market seeking the highest rent possible, ensuring rent is based on the ability to pay.
